Pastor Jerry Shacklett
About
Jerry has served as pastor of Rineyville Baptist Church since 2014. He pastored Hill Grove Baptist Church at Guston, KY, 1993-1997; Irvington Baptist Church at Irvington, KY, 1997-2007, and served as a full time Chaplain in the KY National Guard, 2007-2014.
Jerry retired from the KY Army National Guard in 2019 with 33 years military service. Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force 1977-81; KY Air National Guard 81-84; and the KY Army National Guard from 1994-2019. Jerry has served in two combat area deployments in Kuwait and Iraq. Jerry served as an electronic technician in the Air Force and as a Civil Service employee at Ft. Knox before answering the Lord's call to ministry.
Jerry has been involved in many community service organizations and currently serves with the KY Federation of Fire Chaplain, The Rineyville Fire Department, and The Kentucky Community Crisis Response Team, and a founding member of the KY Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation.
Jerry is married to Ruth Ann (Pogue) of Greenville Kentucky (Muhlenburg County). Ruth Ann retired after serving 30 years as a music educator at David T. Wilson Elementary School in Brandenburg, KY. and 5 years as a Music Educator with the North Hardin Christian School, in Radcliff, KY. Jerry and Ruth have three children: Faith (WKU Graduate with BS in History, and current UK Grad student), Ben (wife Cecilia) Ben has a BS in Biosystems Engineering and is recenlty completing a Masters in Biosystems Engineering. Rachel is a senior at Campbellsville University studying Graphic Design and Animation.
Jerry is a graduate of Meade County High School, Boyce Bible School, Campbellsville University, and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jerry holds a B.S. in Christian Ministries and a Master of Divinity in Missions, Evangelism, and Church Growth. Jerry is currently a Doctor of Ministry Student at the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The Shacklett family enjoys their 4 dogs, (a sable and white Sheltie, a mini blue merle Aussie, a red merle Australian Shepherd, and a bi-black Sheltie), and cats: (Two outdoor and one indoor).
Jerry’s hobbies are bird watching and maintaining his bird feeders (to include hummingbird feeders and a video feeder), maintaining the yard, HAM radio, restoring an H International tractor, playing with the dogs (Not a cat fan :) except UK), enjoying his fishpond, novice, woodworking, and taking an occasional vehicle ride around the countryside with Ruth Ann and family! This year he has planted a very large and robust garden.
